Argentium is a new form of silver that is more pure and durable than sterling, and lasts longer without tarnishing. The primary reason I use this silver is because of its “nontarnishable” qualities! That’s right, it is considered nontarnishable. While over time all silver will sustain a bit of tarnish, Argentium is more resistant to this wear. Sterling silver is composed of approximately 7% copper, a material that lends itself to greater tarnishing as well as allergic reactions to sensitive skin. Argentium is composed of the element germanium which repels tarnish and requires less polishing, and does not have the same allergic qualities as copper. It shines much brighter and whiter than sterling. This silver is more expensive and I spend more money to create my jewelry from Argentium silver because I know my customers recognize the difference and quality of my work which sets me apart from other jewelers. *RESPONSIBLE SILVER Argentium guarantees traceability of its raw silver. It is certified that Argentium is produced using only recycled silver. Q: What is 14k Gold Filled wire and why is it the next best thing to solid gold. The answer is found in the word “Gold Filled”. Gold filled is made from solid “Gold” and “Filled” with other alloys. Gold filled wears like solid gold because the outer surface is solid gold. Electroplating is not part of this process. Gold plated is completely different than gold filled - gold filled is hundreds of times thicker and higher quality than gold plating. Gold filled is often referred to as the “Gold of the Future” because it offers all the same characteristics as solid gold as beauty, durability and strength, but at a fraction of the cost. Since the gold is on the outer surface area, it is impossible to tell the difference between solid gold and gold filled, except when it comes to cost. Since you are guaranteed a substantial layer of gold on your gold filled jewelry by law, it will last a lifetime with reasonable care.

Q: What is Argentium silver and why is it better than traditional sterling silver?
I use platinum, titanium, silver and all types of gold (14, 18, 22 karat white, yellow and pink gold). I get asked what Argentium silver & 14 karat gold-filled is alot, so I made this page to describe it. I favor using Argentium silver for all my silver pieces because of its tarnish resistance and higher quality.
